Billy and Karen Vaughn are the parents of fallen Navy SEAL, Aaron Carson Vaughn (SEAL Team VI). On Augt 6, 2011 Aaron was killed in action in the Tangi River Valley of Afghanistan when a chopper (call sign Extortion 17) carrying thirty Americans was shot from the sky. The day Aaron’s life ended theirs began again.
In the months following this devastating loss the Vaughns began searching for answers. What they learned was life-altering. They quickly came face-to-face with their worst nightmare...the downing of Extortion 17 was at best unnecessary and at worst, a negligent, reckless loss of life.
Over the past six years, the Vaughns have emerged on the national scene as powerful spokespersons for not only our defenders still fighting on foreign soil and securing peace across the globe, but also for the freedoms and prosperity here at home so many have sacrificed their lives to protect.
Their journey since Aaron’s death has taken them through the halls of Congress, into two National Press Conferences, onto multiple national television sets and well over one hundred national and local radio programs. Their writing has been featured in World Tribune, Townhall, Daily Caller, The Hill, and more, including several articles on military affairs that have gone viral. The Vaughns are contributing columnist to both The Blaze and Breitbart News.
Billy is the author of the bestselling book, Betrayed: The Shocking True Story of Extortion 17 and Karen has authored the national bestseller, World Changer: A Mother's Story. Karen travels the country as a keynote speaker urging patriots to stay engaged in American culture and politics. Karen was also a featured speaker on opening night of the 2016 Republican National Convention.
Through the lens of hope and grave personal loss, their message is inspired by the firm belief that a Representative Republic is the noblest form of government ever devised by man and therefore demands protection.
